Some of you may have noticed we are updating the area between the buttercup room and the children’s bathrooms whilst the room is not at full capacity. We have taken a small section of their space for a few days to do this. This should not be an inconvenience, just a little unsightly for now!

Welcome Elise
Elise has joined our team at nursery and is a level three practitioner. We welcome her and hope she settles in quickly as she works across all areas of nursery. Elise has started her Level three forest schools training with us also.
Hooray the vehicle moves slightly
As you may have noticed the abandoned vehicle at nursery entrance has a police sign on it and a flat tyre! We have been instructed to wait until next Monday before we can expect its removal. However unexpectedly this evening the vehicle has moved a little to allow for a bit more sight and slightly easier movement for parents into and from nursery driveway.
We are aware that some parents have made their own attempts with the council and police to assist with our endeavour to remove this dangerous obstruction. Thank you and we hope the situation ends soon.

And no they are not married and no this is not their child!
Welcome to Robert
Robert joins us as Deputy Supervisor
Hi my name is Rob. I have recently joined Nutfield Day Nursery, I have worked in childcare for 10 years now and have a level 3. I am very creative and love the children to express their creative sides too. I used to be a scout leader and just love the outside building tents, bridges and creating a fire. I am now starting my level 3 in forest schools and look forward to completing this.
I have worked with children from babies up to year 3 and taught physical education. Most recently I had the role of leading a large pre-school and third in charge of a nursery; so I am very used to team leading. I look forward to new experiences at Nutfield and working with a new team.
Welcome to Leila
My name is Leila. I have been working in childcare for 6 years now. I am Level 5 qualified in Early Years and am currently undertaking my BA Hons in Leadership in Practice at Kingston University. My position at Nutfield is Deputy Manager. I am excited to join the team here! My priority is to ensure that families and staff alike have the best possible journey through their time at the setting.
Since taking on Performing Arts and exploring various professional skills in a number of different job roles, I found my calling. I started my career in Early Years thinking that I knew a lot about children, I am now very aware that I am forever learning and am a full believer that we never stop. I enjoy exploring the theory of children’s development and applying my learning to practice by modifying pedagogy to coincide with each various learning intelligences.
I am really looking forward to develop my professional practice while at Nutfield and can’t wait to get outdoors and take part in Forest School fun! I have grown up with siblings and lots of animals, exploring woods and enjoying walks. I am very energetic and am up for challenges and adventure. I’ve travelled a number of countries and explored their cultures whilst learning a lot about myself. This experience taught me to relax and enjoy each and every day. I hope this is evident in my practice, as my aim is to enable your children to have the most enjoyable and thriving experiences.
Chicken Pox
We have been notified about a case of chicken pox at nursery. Any pregnant mothers or those with any concerns should contact their G.P.’s for guidance. Thanks Ally
Cornflower Parents’ Evenings
We are hosting three catch up evening meetings for Cornflower parents which include details about the 30 hours. Ideally if you can drop in on the right evening, that would be helpful but we would rather you try and attend any of the evenings as opposed to not coming along. Drinks and nibbles will be provided. Sophie, Afsheen and I look forward to seeing you.

Vehicle problem
We are aware that what looks like an ex-council vehicle has been left tight to the entrance of the nursery entrance sometime before 7.30 am last Friday. I reported this to Tandridge Council as an abandoned vehicle but due to it being taxed this case has now gone to Surrey Police as an obstruction to nursery users. We hope that it will be removed soon and will keep on top of the situation. In the meantime please be extremely careful turning into nursery when coming up the hill and when exiting the nursery and turning down the hill. We have alerted the police to the danger this is causing due to lack of space for maneuvering. And the fact that vehicles are carrying very young children and travelling with a serious lack of visibility as a direct result of this dangerous parking. Thanks

Nursery Staff from September 2017
All the children will move up a room from next Friday 1 September. The set up for the year ahead is to have a Room Leader in each room. This is a newly defined roll, where the member of staff is responsible for the children’s area indoors and out. The operation and layout of the rooms will be their priority to ensure space is used for the particular group of children and individual children in their care for the year ahead. These staff are more likely to remain in their room roles as opposed to moving on with the group of children using their areas. These staff are Charlie for Hazel room (Pre-school), Afsheen for Cornflower, David for Sunflower/Buttercup and Bawani for Primrose room.
The number of staff required for each age group varies from room to room. Our youngest children will have between one and four members of staff in the Primrose room. Tia will become a key player in the room as she has much experience of the room this year. Alongside her we have Eloise who is also level three and Leila who is our new deputy manager.
In Sunflower and Buttercup rooms, our front conservatories, the children will have their education managed by Zoe who has spent this year with the children. Zoe and David will have the support of Runa who you will all know started working at the nursery before me. They will also have Tia who knows the room, Eloise and Leila. In addition Robert who joins us as Deputy Supervisor will be there to guide them. The two rooms may also see Jack and Courteney who will move down from Cornflower as suiting. Once again these rooms have varied staffing needs from three to six members each day.
Sophie will continue her journey with the children into the Cornflower room, together with Jack and Juan. Courteney will support the group. Sophie will be supported by Robert for the children’s education.
Pre-school children will continue their educational journey with Marie. Afsheen will certainly keep in touch with the children and frequent the room with Juan according to our days.
Abby will continue her employment with us as her services are needed.
Often members of the senior management team will be out of ratio from the children and will work in all areas of the nursery to improve systems and better experiences for children. We also have Afsheen, Sophie, Charlie, Juan, Leila, Eloise and Robert are all continuing or starting their forest schools training meaning outdoor education will be obvious. Juan and Charlie are well on the way with their level three’s as Courteney starts hers and Leila has her BA to work towards. So there is continued learning motivation.
I think this completes my intentions in brief. And hopefully gives the essence of consistency mixed with strong staff who are able to offer wide experiences for children.
We are excited for the new nursery year ahead. A key list will be posted on the website soon. Ally

Staff News
Sadly Sam will be leaving us at the end of the month to further her experience at a different nursery as a nursery practitioner. I have tried to entice Sam to stay with us and know the children and staff will miss her. Good luck Sam. Thanks Ally
